Vocabulary:
*Vocabulary cards are given to students at the beginning of each topic. Please study the vocabulary.
Students will have several opportunities for grading through classwork, homework, math facts review, quizzes, and tests. There will be 2 quizzes per topic. Each quiz will cover a few lessons. The Topic Test will be given once all the lessons are completed. When preparing for a quiz/test, please review the Reteaching section and practice Topic Test in the textbook. The practice Topic Test in the textbook is the same format as the graded test. Word problems should be answered in complete sentences.
Rocket Math will be implemented to promote mastery of basic math facts. It is important that the facts are reviewed daily. Mastery of the basic math operations (adding, subtracting, multiplication, and division) will ensure that a proper foundation of knowledge is formed to build on future skills and concepts. Students that do not meet their goal will have to complete the Rocket Math worksheet as part of homework. One point will be deducted when Rocket Math homework is not completed and turned in the next day. Two-minute testing practice will begin in the third nine weeks. Two-minute testing will be graded in the 4th nine weeks.
Tootsie Rolls
Students may receive a Tootsie Roll for ROLLing through a set of Rocket Math. Tootsie Rolls are labeled as peanut free and gluten free. If you have a concern with your child receiving the Tootsie Roll, please email or write a note.
A sticker will be given in place of the Tootsie Roll.
