CONTACTING TEACHERS
We will be available for conferences by appointment only. To request a conference, call the school office and leave a phone number where you can be reached between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. or email your request to the teacher. Mrs. Cranow’s email address is [email protected]. Mrs. Landry’s email address is [email protected]. Both teachers will be present at the conference. An administration member may be asked to attend the conference.
GRADING
All work will be graded on a point system. Most assignments, activities, and all tests will carry a certain number of points decided upon by the teacher. Your child’s current grades will be available to you on PlusPortals.
ASSIGNMENT BOOK
The students will copy their daily homework and weekly test schedule into their assignment books. Please check the assignment book for daily homework and upcoming tests.
Supplies
Students are required to have the proper supplies daily. Please replace lost or destroyed items in a timely manner. Students must have all textbooks, workbooks, loose-leaf paper, and zipper bag with the following items. The zipper bag must contain 3 sharpened pencils and 3 mechanical pencils, one box of crayons, a red pen, scissors, large pink eraser, glue stick, and a yellow highlighter.
REMIND Messages
To receive class reminders from the REMIND message system, please type @mbs-3 in the message box and 81010 in the to box on your cellphone, then send to join.
Absent Student's Assignments
When a student is absent from school a parent is asked to e-mail the school office at [email protected] or call the school office before 9 am to verify the absence. When the student returns to school, he/she must present to the teacher a written excuse from a parent/physician. Acceptable excused absences include illness, death in the family, impassable roads, and emergency situations or at the discretion of the administration.
If your child is absent, please call the office in the morning to request assignments.
It is difficult on a child that has not finished his/her past assignments to understand the present lessons in class.
Vacations
Students who are absent due to a scheduled vacation will receive unexcused absences. Please clear these absences with administration. Students must return from vacation with all of their completed assignments and be prepared for any missed tests.
Volunteer Reminder from Office of Child Protection:
This is a reminder that all volunteers must complete the child protection process, which includes a fingerprint background check, before being allowed to volunteer at MBS School. If you have any questions concerning your status for child protection, please contact Mrs. Beverly Peterson at 225-753-5526 or at [email protected].

Please deliver treats to the office by noon.
There are 27 students in class. Please be aware of food allergies; do not send any products with nuts.
When sending invitations to school for a child's birthday party, please note the whole class or all girls / all boys must be invited. Invitations to a few select students are not acceptable.
Lunch with Your Child
If you would like to purchase a school lunch, please contact the school cafeteria at least 2 days before you attend lunch with your child. All visitors must sign in the office and receive a Visitors Pass.

FIELD TRIPS
Information will be sent when the trip is scheduled. The student’s conduct grade must be in good standing to be eligible to attend the trip. Field trips are a privilege. If a student has a recurring behavior problem, the teacher will confer with the principal for student's eligibility on attending the field trip.
Honor Roll
Honor Roll begins in the third nine weeks.
Third Grade Discipline Policy
Each student will have a clip on the conduct chart. Students will move his/her clip to the next color for an infraction inside the classroom or outside the classroom. Students begin every day on Blue “Ready to Learn;” this is the where students are expected to stay for great behavior.
Conduct Color Key:
Purple-Great Job (Student exemplifies behavior above and beyond the expectation)
Blue-Ready to Learn (Classroom expectation)
Green- Think About It (Warning)
Yellow-Slow Down (-1 point from conduct)
Orange-Teacher’s Choice (-2 points from conduct, discipline form sent home)
Red-Parent Contact (-3 points from conduct, discipline form sent home)
Students are responsible for coloring their behavior calendar each day. Parents should review and initial the behavior calendar daily in the maroon MBS folder. Discipline forms for infractions must be signed and returned to school the following day.
Students will start the 9 weeks with 100%, and points will be deducted as necessary.
